to replace my brake pads?i took my tires off to see the damage and they are bad.when i was loosening the nuts the drivers side wheel was spinning forward and back.i looked at the rotor and i can see some marks left from rubbing on the worn out pad.also the peice that goes in the center of the rotor needs some changing soon.i took out a broken spring looking piece that wraps around the unit.im not sure what its called.now the drivers side tire wggles when i move.i tighten the nuts as hard as i could and its still doing the same thing.i hope its dues to the pad being so worn out.will it be easy for me to change them?what kind of pads do you guys recommend?would this cuase the brake light to stay on?thanks in advance.

hey joebeta,

I`m confused, which isn`t hard.

It seems like you are talking about the front brakes, I don`t know about the "broken spring looking piece" but if your tire moves around and your brake light stays on it most likely means your hub is loose. You would need a special socket for tightening that up.

To change your brake pads, a shop manual comes in handy.
You gotta bang the slide pins out of them and it all comes apart. If you don`t have the cash you can put pads on with your scratched rotors, but your pads will wear out quick, so get new rotors.

$$;)

I'm not sure what broken spring thing your talking bout either. The rotors should be checked to see if there is any life left to 'em. If there is have 'em turned. Save you some bucks. If not and you gotta buy new ones, might as well upgrade. Pads, your safe with almost any pad you buy. Some make more of a mess I.E. brake dust, some squeal more but stop better, of course some cost more than others. Its all what you can afford. I can do mine myself but hell I take to Midas, price isn't bad. They got life time warranty on shoes and pads. Which will save you some money in the furture. Of course you'll have to pay for the labor though. If they have'nt been checked for a while have them done. You could have all kinds of things going on you might not catch. I would much rather have my brakes stop me than say a pylon telephone pole, or rear end of some soccer moms mini van.
Hope this helps

lol.....well im going to look around for the best price.ill let you guys know what other damage they might find.
