what yr. truck should I buy?

I've been the proud owner of a 91 sport for 12 years and hate to part with it. Many great road trips.
I'm looking to upgrade to a 98-02 (used) or 03 new XLT.
Anyone care to comment on best years, models, years to avoid, etc. A 5-speed manual is my first request. v-6 or v-8 I need advise.
Please help. My friends are telling me to buy GMC or chevy. And they call themselves "friends". Geeze!

go test drive different ones and see for yourself... this site has all the info you are looking for, just keep looking.... the reason i say this, is becuase everone will say, oh yeah, this year is better....... and these had problems.... in fact, all vehicles have there own little character quirks and they were all decent to some extent or they would have never been bought.......

It depends on what you plan on doing with it. If you're going to use it for offroad use those years aren't the best, but definitely not 2003 for wheeling. My $.02.
