Whats an 88 Ranger worth?

I have an 88 Ranger that I am thinking about selling soon and the KBB doesn't go back to 1988. It is a 2wd, 2.9l v6, automatic, standard cab. It has been in a few fender benders and has a primered hood and front fender, both bumpers show dents and the clearcoat on the whole truck is peeling. The stock radio doesn't work most of the time, the headliner is starting to come apart. The good: it only has about 65k original miles! Newish exhaust and tires. It has a nice fiberglass camper shell but we may sell it seperate. This was my Grandmothers truck and we need to sell it. Any ideas?

Thanks Ted. I have been checking CL in my area and prices are all over. Most seem to be around the $1500-2800 mark but one the same year and 4x4 with double the miles is $3700 but the body is much nicer. Im starting to think 2500 which gives me plenty of room to negotiate down.

I will have to check autotrader.

I would take it if you were closer! What I usually do when I want to sell an older car -thats nice- is figure out what it is worth to you, add a couple hundred $$ to it and list it, park it in veiw of a lot of trafic and tell everyone about it. If someone is interested in it you will have a couple hundred to haggle with. Since they were interested enough to ask about it they are willing to pay close to whats marked on it. It may take a while to sell, but if I saw an old truck like that sitting on the side of the road I would stop and ask about it because I love those old Rangers!

Sounds like you need to build a desert truck.

I was waiting for that from someone I dont like the amount of room in the cab, it feels even smaller than my Explorer. I think the roofline is lower or something or maybe it feels wierd since it is much lower to the ground. I do have a Ranger grill for my desert 'truck' project though :shifty_ey

You drive a gpw. Like that thing has any space What is the ranger grilled project you have underway?

Dont need much space for going slow! The Ranger grill is in my parts pile for that thing I have talked about building
