Im looking to buy some door speakers and like usual I cant make my mind up on anything, I was leaning toward Infinity, Expo gave me some MBQuart DKE168 to look at also. What I was wondering, what is the difference between these:
Component 5x7
and these
Normal 5x7

or should I be looking at the Kappas which are $94 a pair. And does anyone know anything about this millionbuy.com store, good or bad. Any help will be appreciated.

The difference is that the tweeters are removed from the driver, and are installed seperately for better imaging.

That looks like a good price for the 6800CS. They want $199.99 at Crutchfield 6800CS

Well obviously the tweeter is detached, Is the only reason for that just so I can point it for better sound? One seems to come with a cross over and they other one doesnt and the specs are different also. Is one better than the other? I know nothing when it comes to audio or electronics.

The components will sound better but only if you use an amp. Not the stock hu amp. If you don't do that just go with the 5x7's and save the extra money. But yes the components will soud a hell of a lot better. You should get some 6.5s instead that will even sound better! If you know how to cut wood you can make templates with ease. any other ?s shoot

Well if I do decide to go with the components how much will I have to amp these?? Another thing I know nothing about, amps:monkey:

40-50 RMS should do the trick.

Well first your going to need an aftermarket hu. that has at least 2 pre-outs. Are you upgrading all 4 speakers? If so you need to look at a 4 ch. amplifier and like alec said look for one that is rated 40-50rms rated @4ohms. If you are just upgrading 2 speakers look for a 2 channel amplifier rated at 40-50rms @4ohms. I personally like Rockford Fosgate but other good brands are kicker, audiobahn, and phoenix gold. No SONY! :D

RF doesn't make good anything anymore. Since they were bought their quality went :p

I really like Pioneer HUs now.

Speaking of aftermarket HUs, most should provide enough power that you don't need to seperately amp your components unless you often listen to the music very loud.

Well I do have an aftermarket HU, its a kenwood KDC516S. Its specs are:

Faceplate Security : Detachable Face
Number of Pre-Amp Outputs : 2 Sets
Tape Music Search : N/A
Number Presets (AM/FM) : 6/18
CD Changer Controls : Yes
CD/MD Frequency Response : 10Hz- 20kHz
CD/MD Signal to Noise Ratio : 93 dB
Dimensions (WxDxH) : 7 x 7 x 2
Disc/Station Naming : No
Display Colors : Multi-Color LCD
Fits Chassis Size : DIN
Installation depth (inches) : 6 3/4
Loudness/Bass Boost : Yes
Mono/Stereo Switch : Yes
Peak Power x Channels (Watts) : 47 x 4
Pre-Amp Output Voltage (Volts) : 1.8
Tape Dolby NR : N/A
Preset Scanning : No
RMS Power x Channels (Watts) : 22 x 4
Random Disc Play : Yes

This is a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me, it has 2 outputs so I guess thats good, I have one taken up already that is going to my sub. Alec, I always listen to my music really loud, it drowns out the honks and yells. Am I still gonna need an external amp. Im only gonna replace the front 2 right now, I might get the normal 5x7's for the rear a little down the road.

Yes Alec i agree somewhat with you on the new 2004 RF line they have gone down hill dramatically. I have the 2002 series and the efficiency of the amp is very high. I would just get a 4 ch. amp anyways even if you only replace front 2 speakers for now. It will be cheaper in the long run since you will prolly upgrade the back 2 eventually. Yes your hu is fine just when you are looking for a 4ch. amp only make sure it has a pass-thru feature. Trust me you will WANT a external amp for components it is a night and day difference altough they will play off hu power it just is not enough.

Alright, I can get this amp for free. Will it work???

for free take it, but its not the ideal one you want. You can amp your front door speakers with that since it is only 2 channels. Its better than stock for sure. peace

If it hasn't been answered - the crossovers in components are for filtering the mids to the driver and the highs to the tweeter.

Alright, I have a line on another amp, will this one work better?
kac-608s.jpg

Key Features
Maximum Output Power: 300 Watts x 1
Power Ratings

Bridged Power Output at 14.4V (1kHz, 0.8% THD): 150 Watts x 1
Maximum Output Power: 300 Watts x 1
Power Output at 2 Ohms, at 14.4V (1kHz, 0.8% THD): 75 Watts x 2
Power Output at 4 Ohms, at 14.4V (20Hz-20kHz, 0.08% THD): 50 Watts x 2

Thats all the info I could find about it.

Thanks for all those references 94GV, but if I cant use one of these two amps I think Im gonna just go with the normal 5x7's instead of the components. I really dont want to buy an amp right now. I can get either one of the two I posted for free. So if I cant use one of them to amp the front 2 speakers I will just go with the normal ones with no amp. Thanks for all your help, it was really appreciated.

Even if you dont go with components amp your front two door speakers with one of those two amps it will make a really big difference. Any other questions let me know.

I have a 4channel Pioneer GMX-524 that I'm looking to get rid of soon! If you want that for $100 + shipping, it does 50x4 at 4ohms. Exactly what you'd need!

I'm powering my subs w/it right now but am getting a 2 channel amp instead w/a little more juice. And I'll have my new amp tomorrow so let me know if you want it!

Here's a link to the spec page:
