I have a 93 4x4 4 door XL. It has A/C, cruise, tilt, Am/Fm cassette stereo, power windows, door locks, and mirrors. It's got a 4.0L auto. To me it's pretty loaded. Whats the difference? Mine has steel wheels not alloys so I guess thats one difference, any others?:)

More options available for the XLT than the XL. Also, some of the XL's optional equipment are standard on the XLT.

i think the XL has a manual shift 4X4, instead of the push button 4X4. (i'd rather have the t-case shifter, but oh well).

i think all explorers come with power windows/locks (and probably A/C too)

No, mine has a push button transfer case just like the XLT. Maybe the XLT just came with more standard features, the alloy wheels, and the pinstripe.

I have a 97 XLT. Most probably the year makes a difference. In addition to the one mentioned above, my XLT model has premium radio6 w/ Cd disc changer that has the rear passenger seat control, power moon roof, front overhead console with compass and temp. display, hi-series floor console, trailer tow prep/package, tutone paint, matching side step board, controltrack, and tinted rear windows.

Explorers did come with manual windows. Rick has em on his truck.

If you bought it new you could add on anything the XLT had. We have come across some cars that were not top of the line, but had all the options. Not sure why they would do that.

Hey Gimp, thanks for the link, very informative. By the way, the Fury is the original 383 (sorry for the Mopar talk). My brother had one with the wide 318 you mentioned- the biggest smallblock I've ever seen!
