I got the 2002 leather Sport seats and am about to put them in my '97. I was wondering what the yellow connectors are for? Theres no wires coming out of them. Theres one on each seat. The driver side is power and the passenger is manual so there not power wires. Are these some sort of airbag sensors or something for 2002 plus models?

My best guess is side airbags. Yellow usually is airbag connections.

Yep I gotta agree with Terd, does it have side curtain bags?

and if your really curious, get about 50 ft of speaker wire, and stand 50 ft away and put 12 volts positive to one terminal and negitve to the other...make sure you make a video if you do this :D

Do '02's have heated seats?

Mine is a '97 so I don't have the curtain airbags. The connectors don't have any wires coming out of them so I'm stumped. There going in anyway. Thanks.

do the seats have airbags? look on the outer corner it should say SRS or Side airbag on the top of the seat. i have them on my 2001

its either for seat power or your airbags in your dash/steering wheel. my 99 has that some plug and i dont have side curtain airbags. and i had my seat out on time and started the car with nothing connected and my airbag light kept blinking.

Yes it is an air bag connector.
No, question.

Explorers did not have curtains in 02 but seat loaded air bags.

Terdrocket is correct, I am not sure when but after a certain year the industry standrd is ALL SRS connectors were bright yellow

you may want to isolate those connectors.
Completing the circuit with in will cause the bag to ingite. ( go off )

I can see it now........ You have your door speaker amp under there and you go to show your friends, amp wires come loose and BOOM!! That would suck

Yes it is an airbag connector. The color of the airbag connectors in my Infiniti seats are yellow as well.

Since it has no wires on it, it is just a holder for the vehicle side of the connector.....no airbags are going to blow .....

Don't know why they made it yellow then.

What I am saying is....it holds the connector for the Explorer side of the wiring that goes to the plushest seats with airbags....Since that particular seats does not have airbags sensors, it holds the connector up out of the way. It is still an air bag "connector", so it probably has to be yellow....

Air bag SENSORS are not in the seats. SIR bags are in the rockers.
If it is just a connector and only a conector you are correct it is a non issue.
How ever, if the other end of that yellow connector goes into a wire and into the seat then it very much is an issue with a live and active SIP air bag.
