I need to find out what kind of intake i have. i have a 98 xlt v8. now from my mustang days i would say it is a cobra gt40 due to the staggered runners. the plain gt intake i had in my mustang had straight runners. can someone tell me if i am right. thanks also if i have the gt-40 intake, do i have the heads also. and what else is in there. i read that there was a change in the 98 and after v8 motors. any help is appreciated thanks.

From what I understand the Explorer V8 intake is based off of the original GT-40 intake, but is is shorter in height and as a result has shorter runners. The heads on the V8 Explorers a known as GT-40P models. They are supposed to be very simmilar to the standard GT-40 head and are an excelent design.

Yep and with the right cam , and a stroker kit, you would be able to smoke all 4 wheels at once! LOL

Smokes all 4!

Hey, I know it is hard on the drivetrain, but next time you feel spunky try dropping it into 4-low and get on it. With my 4.10's it will smoke all 4 and get a 2nd gear bark!

Wish I could! Not so easy with AWD! Thats why I would need a stroker and large lift cam. :D AWESOME torque, lousy milage.

Damn! you floor it in 4 low?!?! Im scared of that gear!!! :) On the street it lurches back and forth...
oh well
