Whats with these different SOHC engine Cover's

Hey guys i was looking at BlackMagic's site and noticed his truck has a different looking plastic engine cover that says SOHC 4.0L. Well my truck is the same year and its a SOHC 4.0L but its different looking. Also the intake on those SOHC motors has another hose going to the intake. I kinda figured this out when i got my MAC intake and found it had an extra hole but gave me a plug for it. Whats going on with this different cover, extra hose and from what i can see a different intake. Tell me what you guys think i just want to know whats going on here. Thanks

Ok thanks aldive i sent you the email. Remember everyone mine is the engine with the blue in it and the other one is the engine in question and has red on it.

You can see on the second picture how different that upper intake looks to the top upper intake that is mine. You can't see my upper too good but its there. Tell me what you guys think this all means. Thanks

My cover goes all the way back and covers the entire intake.

The second picture the guy took the cover off but BlackMagic is right the cover does cover theo whole thing. But look close and you can see that the actual upper intake is different. Just forget the plastic cover that says SOHC i'm talking about how these two have different upper intakes. B=

BlackMagic can you post a shot of your truck's engine it has a totally different upper intake than i have but there the same year. I can't figure out why this is like that. my upper intake is simple looking with all six runners where you can see them, but the other one the second shot has like two pipes going around it then to the six runners. Thanks guys i just want to know what the deal is.

I see what you are saying now. You have one like what is on the Sport Trac's.

Yeah i thought this was wierd but BlackMagic's intake is also on the Sport Trac's sometimes. Yeah i think mine is the OHV upper intake but my friend checked and mine is a SOHC just has the same plastic cover that the OHV has just says SOHC. So from a distance it looks like on OHV. Do you guys know whats going on with this.

Ya know i was also thinking this could be the hold up with the Supercharger for the SOHC. There are two kinds of upper intakes that come on the SOHC so the Eaton SC will have a hard time with one upper intake. It could be possible that extra fitting that goes into the intake on like BlackMagic's style could be holing it back. Mine doesn't seem to have anything holding it back at all. Plus i have seen a picture of the charger on a SOHC Ranger that had my upper intake and it fit and worked so i don't know. What is with the two different kinds.

Johnny, can you take a picture that's a little more focused on the upper intake? That intake design looks sorta like the SOHC on the 02+ 4 doors.
