Hey guys, hope I'm posting in the correct place. I'm having some trans problems. When my friend owned the Explorer I now own, he revved the engine up in neutral and dropped it into drive. Immediately you could tell something broke, because it wouldn't move at all in either direction. After I got the vehicle I changed the transmission filter and noticed there weren't any chunks of metal at the bottom of the pan, but the fluid was burnt. When the you start it, there's a whining noise coming from the area where the engine meets the trans. So I was thinking, maybe something is up with the torque converter? I'll be pulling the trans once I get my air compressor/pneumatic tools over to my house. Just wanted to know if anyone had any other ideas as to what could be the problem as I'm new to Ford and trucks at the same time.
Much thanks in advanced!
