So I changed my passenger side wheel bearing l2-3 weeks ago and now it is loose. Is there anyway that the locknut can come loose(manual hubs) Also I might have not set the bearing cup all the way into the rotor. If this is the case what is the best way to push it in all the way into the rotor. It is a real biotch to get them in asnd out.

Did you torque them to 35 ft-lb prior to the retorque of 16 INCH POUNDS. If I only had a dollar for every time I thought I did all the right steps! Just do it again and things will be fine.

I always retorque or check everything that I install after a while just to make sure. Well at least I do since I too screwed up! LOL!

Do you have larger tires and wheels? If so then you will need to torque your outter nut much higher then the book says. Otherwise you will always end up with this same problem. It took me a couple of years to figure this all out.

Also check your inner nut and lock ring. The pin might be pushed in the nut to far and not grabbing the lock ring fully.

You should be able to visually see if the race is seated correctly in the rotor.

Torque the inner nut to factory specs. When installing the lock ring, never loosen the nut for the pin to fit in the holes, always tighten-it won't take much. Torque the outer nut to 95lbs. As long as the inner nut doesn't move then it's ok. 410fortune has been doing this for years without a problem. Hope this helps.

that sounds good. i think i did not tighten the inner locknut tight enuff. this cant allow my tire to fall off can it? I better check it right away. It is gonna be +12 today anyway, it'll be nice to get outside.

It would take a lot for the wheel to just fall off, however you will know it when the wheel is wobbling all over the place with massive bearing failure. Might take out the spindle as well. That sucks looking for a replacement. New ones are very expensive.

Im sure the wheel is wobbling a bit cause it feels wierd and I cant get my new locknut tool till tuesday morning. Guess I'll just have to not drive till then. If the spindle is gone I think I'll go to a scrapper and take the whole thing.

Unless your bearing has totally failed (you will know it) then the spindle will be fine. I wouldn't drive it at all before then.

My mom has to take a quick drive to work but after that It will sit till im done.
