ok I been lookign at wheels for my 94 explorer. One set that I am looking at has a -6 offset a loacal wheel dealer recommeded a 25mm offset (i cant rember + or -). Wheels that i am looking at on ebay are -30, and yet another set on ebay is -27. please explain the difference and what would fit a 94. I dont want the old back in the day look with the 13 inch wheel that sticks way out.

I'm not sure where you're getting the metric measurements from. I see the first link having a 3.75" backspace, the second link with a 3.25" backspace, and the third with a 4" backspace.

I don't think any of those rims will work on you Ex, since it's 4x4 and you need openings for the front hubs.

Your stock rims have a 4.5" backspace. So the first rim from above would move the tire out 3/4", the second would move it out 1 1/4", and the third out 1/2".

The popular choice around here is 15x8 rims with 3.75" backspacing.

look at the links again above backspacing in each one is offset

15x8 w/ 3.75 backspacing is the way to go. it will give you a wider track with minimal if any rubbing.

Offset is measured from the midddle of the wheel. Negative is inside the center and positive is outside the center. An 8-inch wheel with 3.75-inch backspacing is equal to a -1/4-inch or -6 mm offset. Most aftermarket on this site run 8-inch wheel width with 3.75-inch backspacing or -6 mm offset. 25.4 mm = 1-inch or 25.4mm x 1/4inch = 6 mm. 1/2-inch equals 12mm and so on. 0 Offset is equal to 1/2 the wheel width. Backspacing is measured from the back (inside) side of the wheel.
