2007 Ford Sportstrac
I have a 2007 Ford Sportstrac. Just now have 40,000 miles. I had my tires replaced with Michelins. The truck has a bad vibration now. They balanced and balanced them and said we had a bent rim. Went to a dealership and no bent rim. They also balanced them. The vibration was a little better. Took back to the first place and after bickering back and forth they decided to put different Michelins on and balance them. Got back on the road and the same thing. This vehicle rode great with the old tires. Please Help Me.

Well, if you're positive it is the tires, have them put something besides Michelins on. I'm not really sure what we can do to help the situation... Have the rims been gauged to see if they're bent, or maybe a hairline crack?

Did the vibrations start immediately after you got the new tires? If so, try moving the tires on the front to the rear and the rear to the front, see if that changes the vibration at all. Does the vibration get better, worse or just different when you accelerate, decelerate, low speeds and highway speeds?

They moved the back to front and the same thing. Highway speeds are the worse about 55-75.

several things can cause this problem.
1 Tire runout
2 Too much static weight
3 U-joints
4 Brake rotors
ect
You need to look at when the problem started.
If you have or know someone who has a truck like yours, swap tires with them and see if you still have the vibration.

Went back today and had the tires balanced again. This time they marked the weights to see if they are moving. They didn't on my way home about 30 miles. Every time i go back to Sears they have to rebalance them. What's up with this? Sears Man said one rim was slightly bent. But last week Dealership said no bent Rim. Seemed a little better today. THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY...

Wheel weights can move, especially on chrome rims. If they are moving have them use stick-on weights. Also, tires can rotate on the wheel if the the wheel is chrome or highly polished. Mark the position of the tire on the rim with crayon. Ask them to show you where the wheel is bent, if not you can raise the tire off the ground then attach a stiff wire somewhere on the body then place the end very close to the wheel and spin the wheel you will see if it is bent. you have to do this on both sides. Remember, after what repair did the problem start? If the wheels were not changed then the problem is the tire or the weights.
