Can rims from a 2004 explorer be used on a 2006 explorer? My concern is that the tire pressure sensor on the 2004 rims is in the valve stem and the 2006 has the band type. Can they be switched to the 2004 rims?

I believe they should work just fine. I also believe that you should be able to swap the tire pressure sensors onto the new wheels and keep everything in check. Do the '04 rims already have the senor's?

Yes but they are valve stem sensors and the 2006 rims must be the band type
