you dont have to jack it up i didnt.

Jacking it up just takes a little pressure off of the bolts--so they turn easier.

technically, you should undo the upper A-arm from the spindle, then do the twist...

^^^^

Hunh ?

Why would you technically undo the upper control arm from the spindle?

Only if your a lil thick around the middle :D Its no problem to just get under it and twist away

this would unload all the tension from the torsion bar....making it nearly impossible to get the right ride height. i don't know where you got this info but it isn't correct.

yes it is. it is the proper way to crank the torsion bars. when you crank it with the upper arm attached to the spindle, it twists the bushings for the upper arm inside of the brackets. so the proper way to do it with out screwing up your buchsings long term, is to undo the upper arm.

but its your call. I didnt undo the upper arm and everything else is fine except i have screwed up bushings now.

its not that much work btw...

and as for the proper ride height, it doesnt make it impossilbe. you just measure how much a few turns does and adjust to that formula. you should also technically cycle the suspension to see where the ride height truly settles...

and itll work out the same as jacking it up and doing the twists, cause you dont really know how much height your gaining when you jack it as well.

sorry, i probably shoulda just edited these...

well you need to go out and drive areound a bit to let it settle, so i'd rather keep everything hooked up....its a twiast and measure procedure. Connecting everything back up to find your still off and then undoing everything is a waste of time imo.

Just Jack the truck up till the wheels are off the ground and twist. Remeber to measure before you twist the bolts. As for doing it on the ground...my bolts wouldnt even move.

Or... get a friend to hold a tape measure at the wheel wells and use an impact wrench to tighten the bolts...that way the friend can tell you to stop when you reach 2".

wow, talk about taking the proverbial "long way"

hey i dont care which way anybody does it. this is TECHNICALLY the right way to do it, whether it sounds stupid or not. I did it wrong too, until i found out the right way. Im just giving the most accurate information. thats it. it may be the "long way" but ****, itll take what an extra 20-30 minutes?

and hitting it with an impact wrench is also a bad idea...

so how long after u did a tt that u started to realize that ur bushings were bad???

and has anybody else have these problems

no body is bashin ya man. Anyways which bushing where you referring to? The one on the torsion key cuz thats a kevlar pad.

im not saying anybody is, I just want to let people know that all im saying is that this is the way its supposed to be done. you can do it other ways, im just giving the best info i can (which the purpose of forums is...)

anyway, im referring to the bushings on top of the frame for the upper A-arm, thus why you would diconnect it from the spindle.
