when doing a tortion twist...?

im not saying anybody is, I just want to let people know that all im saying is that this is the way its supposed to be done. you can do it other ways, im just giving the best info i can (which the purpose of forums is...)

anyway, im referring to the bushings on top of the frame for the upper A-arm, thus why you would diconnect it from the spindle.

where did you hear that this is the way it is supposed to be done? While having my f250 serviced today I asked the master mechanic at the Ford dealership about that and he said it was the "stupidest thing he has ever heard". He said there is a documented procedure for leveling Ford torsion bar equipped vehicles and it involves using an impact wrench, driving a few miles and rechecking the height. Then adjusting more is needed.

I'll be the bad guy here, this is not the way it's supposed to be done. You are aware that the upper control arm bushings are in constant movement when the suspension cycles? Therefore, I find it hard to accept your logic that it "ruins" the bushings by turning them 1/8th of a turn at most by doing a TT.

I agree that using an impact is slightly risky because the bolts are prone to breakage due to the amount of stress they're under. I always do my adjustments by hand with a rachet and breaker bar.

thanks 4 all the help and info guys...now all i gotta do is get all the parts like the blocks and camber adjusters and i get get started on it hopefully soon...

Would you know how much the FORD dealership charges for leveling?

90 bucks an hour for labor, so i would say about 160 they would charge ya. Driving it around and all to make it settle. Then do it all over.
