To search for the source of my apparent vacuum leak and misfiring among other trouble codes I pulled the upper intake. I am sure I found the leak since the front runner has a crack in it. Since the intake is off should I replace the injectors now? The truck has 190K on it and has always run well until now. Is there a mechanical way to have them cleaned? The misfire appears to be on bank 1 according to codes. I just would hate to put it all back together then find a bad or dirty injector or two. I have ordered software to hook the laptop up so that should allow me to find the problems but thats after it's back together?

You can take the injectors off and take them to a shop to have them cleaned. They connect them up to a device and the run a solvent through them at high pressure. They also test them to make sure they are atomizing the fuel and have the correct spray pattern.

But otherwise fuel injectors are not considered to be a wear item on these trucks.

with almost 200k it might be worth it to have them sent in and cleaned/rebuilt. I've used these guys in the past and will use them in the future: http://www.injector-rehab.com/

Thanks for the information

Did you feel any thing different after the cleaning and rebuild? Did you gain any lost power back?

I haven't done any Explorer injectors yet, but on my Honda I noticed it ran a lot smoother and more consistent while tuning
