Hi,

I am a new user and have been using the info of the forum to try and repair my p301 misfire. I think the injectors need to be repalaced and Ii can not find anything on here about that repair.

Has anyone here replaced injectors and have any tips/ procedures?

I have a 200 OHV 4.0 v6. Thanks in advance!

In 16 years as a Ford Technician I have never replaced a injector on 4.0L OHV. I would look into ignition system or intake gaskets. How does it run?

I can't say anything about your problem.

But how to remove your injectors-
I've never worked on a OHV engine, but you will most likely have to remove the intake manifold, lower intake runner/manifold to expose the fuel injectors. The fuel injectors are secured into place by the fuel rail.

Therefore disconnect the fuel line to fuel rail. Unbolt the fuel rail and pull it off along with the fuel injectors. When you replace the fuel injectors you should lubricate the rubber seals on them.

Again I have never worked on an OHV engine. Read up on a Shelton or Haynes manual for exact procedures.

Thx for the response. The car originally had a p171 and p174 code displayed. The car misfires and runs very choppy. It also idles lower than normal.

I changed the plug in the #1 cylinder and checked for spark. Neither helped. It now has a p301 and p171 code. The old spark plug was wet.

I also removed the upper intake and changed the gaskets. I sprayed the lower intake when the car was running and couldn't find any leaks.

you did just the upper intake? The lower ones were right there....

:)

you may not see a leak on the outside of the lowers, but it could be between cylinders...

I did fuel injectors on my 04 Ranger (3.0l Vulcan v6) and the procedure was what Hitchhikingmike said. After removing the fuel rail and everything above it I was able to pull the injectors out and replace with new ones. I had the same codes you did.
