This weekend the New York area is going to be blasted with a mnassive snow storm, with a possibilty of 2 feet oof snow depending where you live. I was wondering when is it time to kick it into low range. What do I look for to see that the 4HI is being overwhelmed? Thanks for any help.

My $.02:
Use 4-low when you're pushing thru snow or climbing (when going up for climbing power or while going down for braking assist) or anytime you want to deliver more torque to your wheels. I think the decision is based on keeping your engine turning at a desired rate. I like to keep my engine turning in the 2000-2300 rpm range. If you find yourself in a situation where you're in first gear and your engine is bogging (below its desired rpm range) then 4-low is just the ticket.

This makes $0.04. I consider 4 low for special tasks such as off-roading navigating a tight trail for the reasons azleahy mentioned. Also for pulling out a stuck vehicle or fenceposts. Also for something like plowing- which I would use my P-up for, not the X. 4 Low doesn't have much place on the road. In-fact this reminds me that I should go run mine in 4-low a little in the field to keep the parts loose because I never go there. For normal in-town driving in the white stuff, the additional torque might actually cause you to spin more. It doesn't give you extra traction, just more raw torque.

hey guys thanks for the info. i plan to have to plenty of fun comming up.
