Where are all the Virginia Explorers??

Edenburg Gap is close to DC. Andy remember we did those trails. That was the place with all the ATVs. They were similar to Second Mountain.

Ok, I forgot about that trip. That's the one I took the X on instead of the Zuk. I guess I didn't realize where it was.... I'm was just a follower back then... That and I don't have pictures of it, so I tend to forget...

BTW - We missed you and Stacey at the event in August. I think there was talk about an October event, I'm not sure and I don't think I'll make the September meeting.

I'm full until December (as far as a travel trip). someone plan a trip in December Somewhere with full hookup camping close by or we could plan to ride with the Lynchburg Jeep Club at there annual 1-1-08 shoe creek run. I went with them last year nothing difficult for my truck but it was still a fun day, it rained most of the day but it was good.

I had already made plans for that weekend. I really hope to be available for the next event.

Are you reffering to the Sep event or the 1/1/08 Lynchburg event?

I had made plans for the past August event. I realy need to get out for the next event.

HOW about a show and shine meet!?/lol old sporty is needing some company!lol,,,,,,, food!? ,,,,, :P

Bobby -- lets put together a Uwharrie run in the spring

IZwack you need to do a central Va 4wd run with Bobby and his gang. The farm they run has some serious climbs.

Bobby, I havent talked to andy in a while, how is the zuk coming along?

That sounds fun too.

I'm just eager to get on a new trail and I've seen some pretty neat pictures of Uwharrie.

What sucks for me is forking out a couple hundred dollars just in gas. I have been worried about my tranny because it is making funny grinding sounds sometimes. I found another one at the junkyard that was in pretty good shape and have it torn down. I've got almost all the parts to get it back together and will hopefully pu it in soon. This is my first trans rebuild:confused:

Yeah off roading is definitely not cheap.

And getting to the trails a large chunk of cash in itself. Which sometimes includes the price of a tow vehicle, trailer, and so on.

I am looking at getting an 99+ F250 diesel early next year. I am lucky to get 11 or 12 MPG. Not to mention, how cool would it be if I could beat the crap out of my truck without worrying about the 3 or 4 hour drive home.

Let's set a date. Hopefully the Zuk'll be ready by spring. Do you know what the terrain is like at Uwharrie? I plan to run the Uwharrie Zuk event in October, but wouldn't turn down a weekend to run that in Spring. Memorial Day weekend might be a busy but fun weekend plus give an extra day. If it's anything like Northern WI there was a ton of crazys that were fun to watch.

IZwack, what about Crozet? Last I checked, though, Crozet was trying to become members only.

tenikiwon -- I'll go whenever you're ready :D. Just let me know and I'll work the Dana 60 swap around the run's timeframe (I plan to do the swap sometime in the spring but I'm flexible, I can push it off till summer).

Well the zuk is currently naked, but axles are purchased and I think I've decided on the motor. Need to make sure the motor/tranny will fit and decide on suspension and cage options. If nothing else I should be able to throw on a SPOA kit on my black Zuk and get by with that if need be. It's amazing what 63 horses can do if properly motivated :D

Bump for the local crowd... the Ex is up in the for sale forum... Know anyone who needs a capable explorer send 'em my way :smoke:

John I'm lovin' the Jeep, have about 8k on it now. Have only run it through Stoney Run (the easy switchback route, the guy I was with wasn't prepared for the path straight up).. planning a Shoe Creek trip soon. It's funny, b/c I used to absolutely hate jeeps and dodge/chrysler with a passion. The 4:1 lo range is sweet. It'll crawl up, over, down anything... and I do mean CRAWL. Its surprising smooth riding offroad in the rocks. The new Wrangler (jk) is sooo much more refined than the previous TJ but is still every bit as capable if not more. I'm starting to understand the "jeep thing" but still love going through the gears in the Ex.
