off of polo grounds rd. in Bentivar. did you go to school here?

Ha! we were pratically neighbors... I grew up in Hollymeade then Forest Lakes

Went to Holly Meade/Sutherland/Albemarle/Virginia Tech

and now i'm in friggin' Indiana...

Long Island is about 1 1/2 hours south straight down 29s until you get to Altavista 12 miles east and your ready to go.

My Plan

I'm traveling from Richmond and will be camping Friday and Saturday night unless the weather is going to really be bad.

I might have to leave early on friday but my co-worker will be making the voyage after 5:00p. So if anyone wants to caravan. Also, don't use Mapquest for directions from Richmond. It will route you through Charlotesville and take 3hr 30mins. Best route is 460 or 360 to 24 to 29S. takes about 2hrs 20mins from richmond.

I will meet up with you wherever your route joins onto 29, and caravan from there. I may even bring food! :D

change of plans. I will leave sat morning. If there is anyone in the charlottesville/albemarle area that would like to come but not drive, they are more than welcome to ride with me and watch me abuse my ride. what time is this thing going to start sat morning? Also, I've got a buddy that's not on this site that is thinking of coming, but is kind of worried about the terrain. what kind of trails are we looking at here? he has a bone stock grand cherokee. getting it stuck isn't a problem, but breaking stuff is. let me know if there is going to be rocky trails and whatnot, or just a bunch of mud please. thanks

I could take a bone stock any thing 4x4 and watch at 95% of the places. the trails are semi smooth between holes and the hills. most all of the rough stuff has a bi-pass. you can make it what you want it to be. we will steer him the best way so he will enjoy his trip.

We normally hit the trails by 1:00p. I would try and be there by noon. I don't remember what cell phone service is like but I'd be willing to meet up with people in Altavista (HWY 29) Saturday morning early.

sounds great. Andy, if you are up for meeting sat morning, just let me know when and where and I'll be there. Are you driving down sat morning, or fri night?

I went to Sutherland and Albemarle. what year did you graduate from Tech?

cell service is very spotty, some servers have 0 service there. write this down just in case you get that far and can not get up with anyone, main street altavista (29 business) from the north take first altavista exit left turn at top of ramp when you see fellers chevrolet make a left onto Pittsylvania ave. from the south take 1st altavista exit, top of ramp make a right, 2 miles you'll come to a tee (@ mc donalds) make a left onto main st (29 business) just past the car wash left onto Pittsylvania ave. once your on pitts. ave go 4-5 miles make a left (there will be a long sweeping right turn grave yard to the right next left) onto level run road, ago 4-5 miles there will be two churches after you pass the second church you will make the next left (1/2 mile past second church) moons rd. 2-3 miles you will see yellow poles with a cable strung threw them to your left you have made it. note there is normally a cable across the entrance to the field if you are planning to come early you will need to get up with someone for a key to the gate. do not hit any trails without a guide (there are places that look easier than they are). we will have a meeting to make sure everyone knows the rules, members and nonmembers alike. we want to make sure that everyone the comes to join us have a great time, recieves what that come to get, and will leave with the intension to return and join us again. P.S. we will eat first and then hit the trails. fresh fried chicken and fixins, burgers, and dogs will be served only $5 per person all you can eat or until its gone witch ever comes first. $5 for all drivers, ride and watch for free.

Wheelin on Saturday

Bobby,

looks like i will most likely see you there. i will be bringing two mostly stock vehicles (99 explorer and 02 ranger) that are daily drivers. we may end up being one of the "watching" through some of the areas.

Great Time!

Had a great time, THANKS again to the Central Four Wheel Drive Association and Bobby. Got home safe only to find that I can't get the T-case out of neutral. Looks like it's swap time and then T-case gears!?!

I only took a few pictures and about 15mins of video. Will try and post the pictures on Monday, videos later.

If anyone needs pictures posted let me know and I can setup webspace or you can e-mail 'em to me. tenikiwon@explorerforum.com
