Not much lift, but...

96 Sport
2" torsion twist and Warrior shackles.

98 XLT 2WD
3" SPINDLES - FRONT
1.5" SHACKLES AND 1.5" ADD A LEAFS - BACK
3" BODY LIFT

92 Sport 2wd
2" PA body lift
1.5" Rancho add-a-leafs
1" Performance Products coils
f-150 spacers
bilsteins
poly bushings

When the christmas holidays come around, I'm pulling the PP coils and spacers off and putting some 2.5" rancho coils.

hey all you guys with these 3" spindle's did ya'll buy the full Explorer Pro Comp kit or did you just buy the spindles???

did you have to buy longer shocks as well or just better ones??

also would it be better to just get the full Explorer Pro Comp kit of buy the springs and spindles seperately?? because the kit comes with leaf's and shocks

Hey SCEXPLORER... Are you using the Explorer Pro Comp spindles? If you are, then they obviously work on a 97, but why do they say 98+? Did you have to do any modifications? Thanks!

I have a '92 2wd. I have a question. Is there any difference betwn the 2wd & 4wd coils? :bounce: :shoot:

Yes, I used the explorer pro comp spindles which is actually made by the bullseye company. The box says 95-2000 explorers 2wd so it works. I bought it by itself because procomp shocks suck and I couldn't use the add leaf because I have a sport.

LukeDog3D- did you have to do anything to the radius arms or i-beams when you put the 1-inch springs on the front??

No, I just had to get an alignment. You should be fine with up to 2" of suspension lift.

I just put on a set of 2.5" rancho coils, and now the cams are maxed out....I can't get it aligned.

If you're looking for the 1" coils, I am selling mine.

How much do you want for them, and how hard are they to install? How bad is your alignment on the 2.5s?? What about on the 1 inch?

Well, I went today to get it aligned, and they said that I already have the biggest cam that they stock, and it was maxed out. But the alignment isn't horrible. The tires are slightly tilted, and the truck pulls gently to the right, like it pretty much always did.

With the 1" springs, the adjustable cam took care of the alignment. It was fine.

I'm looking to get half of what Performance Products charges, or $100.

They aren't hard to install. The only tool you need out of the ordinary is a 1 1/8" wrench. Just jack up truck, remove tire, put frame on jackstands, keep jack under radius arm, remove shock from lower stud only, unbolt sway bar link, let radius arm down with the jack, unbolt the big nut holding the spring, twist out spring and replace....bolt all the stuff back up and then move to next side.

Do you have to buy the adjustable cams or will the stockers do? I'll prolly have to wait a month or so and see how christmas goes then check back with ya and see if you still have them. I've spent 150.00 on other stuff for the truck this last week, and don't want to push it. Hopefully this month's bucget will yield some extra dough. Thanks for the info. though.

Thanks,
Nathan

The stock ones might serve you, but i would imagine that the alignment shop will charge you for a new one. I think they run around 40 bucks over the cost of the alignment.

When lifting a I- beam Explorer, or any I-beam vehicle much above 2 inches to get camber correct the beams will need to be bent. Also the radius arms should be modified to correct caster. Several companies sell beams and radius arms. Richard

The radius arms arent supposed to be bent. You just need drop brackets after 2" of lift.

You can bend the i-beams they just have to be the right years. The newer ones you can't. I think that any of the i-beams that are pre-87 or pre-89 can be bent no problem.

I wasn't referring to bending the radius arms, I was referring to bending the I beams to correct camber. Modified radius arms have the bottom hole moved out to correct caster. For moderate lifts dropped brackets work fine

The main difference between bent beams and drop down brackets is performance. If you plan to do some ditch banks now and then, the brackets are fine, but if you plan on push your truck and abusing it a little then the bent beams are much better and much safer. I will say that I have seen rangers get a few feet of air with the brackets and not have any problems.

Oops, I meant to say I beams, not radius arms. :o

I'm just paranoid b/c my I beams are stamped
"do not bend".
