I just bought a scangaugeII on ebay and I'm curious about where people are placing these things. I was thinking about placing right in between where the A/C controls and the center console meet ...

Does anyone have pics?

Thanks in advance,
Gianni

I've got the first edition version and it sits in the same stash as my jack. The novelty wore off pretty fast. It did come in handy when I replaced the stock guage overlays with some white faced ones from a Sport Trac. I needed to get the needles on the tach and speedo back to normal and having speed and rpm available on the Scanguage made it a piece of cake.

The new version is MUCH nicer, but I'm not convinced I'd use it much more than my first one. But that's just me.

On My Shelf In Garage..

Shelf as well. Its a cool toy, and nice to have when you have a problem. But I just don't need it day to day and it clutters up the interior.

The two main reasons why I purchased this item are to keep track of my mpg and to check/clear any codes ... I know ... I'm a geek

On ebay....how much did you spend?

I take mine out of the truck and stick it in my coat pocket. I can't leave that in my truck where I live.

Works great and love all the features.

I have an xls, so its nice to have some features of the xlt.

I paid $160 ...

Did you just buy it?....3n1 had a sale for them week and a half ago. $130 shipped and was posted on this site. But its a good investment imo. I just got mine in Friday.

I wanted to change my radio in the summer. So i will mount it just below the new radio, since the stock one takes up so much space. I just need to be able to cover it, because I park my truck in street.

Mine is in that ash tray looking thing.

I agree the novelty does wear off. Had I not cut a hole to discreetly run the wires I too would have shelved it by now.

I don't have the new one, but am surprised at all the people who don't use it. I have mine plugged in all the time. I use the guages, and I like driving down the road, having the CEL come on, and being able to pull the code on the spot and decide if it's a big deal or not. An when it annoys me enough, until I fix it, I can turn it off. I have mine right below the heater controls, in front of the upper compartment, but the new one would take up much less space.

Not a scangauge, but this place is best. (see the changer control at the top of the storage bins, with the wire sticking out on the left side)

If I put it down there, it will be filled with some kind of juice/drink in no time..lol
The new one is pretty small, I chuck it in my jacket pocket and keep the cord wrapped around column.

Had it sitting in under the ac area. Now it sits inside the center console if I ever get bored and see why my engine light is always on.

I used it for the mpg thing, but it's only ever accurate after a month or four fillups, and it's a chore to keep with.

Anyone want a scangauge 1 for $70 bucks? =D

I received my scangauge II 2 weeks and I have been extremely happy with it ... really neat features. I've been using it for my mpg and my coolant temp. The trip function is really cool too!!

So far my X gets around 16 mpg in the city (which I think is not bad at all)

I placed mine on the second storage bin and place a velcro sticky on the top surface ... so far so good

Thanks for all the comments,
G
