I am looking for a 7 tooth drive gear for my 4406 so that I can run a 19 tooth driven gear on my VSS. This is the combination necessary to correct my speedometer/odometer. I got to go this way because if I stick with the stock 8 tooth drive gear I would need a 22 tooth driven gear to correct it. Nobody makes a 22 tooth gear so I have to change the drive gear. I have read in several places that a 7 tooth drive gear should be available, but I have not found any references to where or what part number.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Dan

Just got off the phone with them. They say that they don't have anything for the 4406. He suggested watching Ebay for new old stock :(

Gearvendors uses exclusivly GM speedometer gears and doesn't have any suggestions on where to go for a Ford gear.

I left a message with Rockland Standard Gear, I hope to hear back from them soon.

George from Rockland Standard Gear called back today. The guy said he is very familliar with this T-case and has never heard that there was anyting other than the standard 8 tooth drive gear for it. He is going to look around and see if the drive gear is compatable with some other t-case drive gear. I think he menitioned a 1356 drive gear. He will let me know tomorrow what his findings are.

George emailed me back. The gear he was looking at was too big to be able to be made to work.

I am going to assume this means that there is no other option available to get something other than the stock 8 tooth drive gear. Hohum, I guess I gotta look in to getting an electronic re-cal unit if I want to get this thing correct :(

Hmmm, I may have found the answer to this question. It looks like the BW1356 8 tooth gear cross references to the 4406 8 tooth gear. There is a 6 tooth and 7 tooth gear available for the BW1356. I just ordered a 7 tooth gear to try. We will see how this comes out.

what was the outcome?

What was the outcome of this?

I'm a little late it looks but yes you can use parts for the 1356 for the speedo drive gear and a manual transmission mustang worm gear fits perfect. I had to swap to a 7 tooth with 20t worm gear to get my speedo exact in my ranger.

To elaborate, I did install the 7 tooth gear and it worked just fine. The physical dimensions were slightly different, but no more that .01" here and there. Probably just manufacturing tolerances. It fit just fine and I have been running it since November 2014 without any issues.

nice. glad it worked out - good info!
