there is a ring that looks like a gear on the back of the rotor..... this ring trips a sensor that looks like an o2 sensor that sits just above the spindle on the inboard side of the wheel........ it is wired like a regular sensor as well
The ABS Sensors up front are retained with a bolt in the steering knuckle. Look inside the front wheel well and follow the corregated plastic wire covers down behind the wheel. If you take your truck to a garage they can put it on a little hand held diagnostic and tell you which side needs looked at and then you can go from there.
On mine it was the driver's side sensor you can get them for $42 bucks at a dealer, it includes the sensor and about 2 feet of wire harness with connectors.
Before you spend any money though did you check brake fluid level? Don't bash me I had to ask...and check the control module connector and fuses and just check the harness down by the steering components maybe some road trash bit into something.
If your truck is anything like mine I had to destroy the old one to get the new one in because a light layer of rust and road crud had welded it in place so I lightly sanded the hole before installing the new sensor.

Yes its true, and I think im going to end up getting one of these. Unless someone else has a suggestion about another vehicle that is around the same price or cheaper. I think this will be my best bet based on power, features and reliability.
well, i was going to give it a hot again tomrrow evening, BUT the light didnt come on at all today and i drove over a hundred miles today alone.... So i think im just going to leave it as is for now... really wierd....
What do u think?.. think i should try to climb under there anf try to clean it out of something?
You can pull and clean the sensors since any metal contamination will cause erratic probs as I suspect is your case. If it were me, I would at least try this.
The sensor is and aluminum cylinder protected by a metal piece that covers it and some of the spindle. There are 2 bolts that secure the sensor to the Knuckle. If you look at this metal piece you will see 2 thread holes. One for each bolt... the smaller bolt is a 6mm 12pt 1/4" drive socket only...It has to be 1/4" drive due to clearance issues and it must be 12 pts...This bolt is easy to strip.
I haven't had the need to removed one (yet). The sensor is located behind the rotor, but its bolts are located and accessible from the inside of the steering knuckle. I don't know if the sensor is installed/removed from the inside or outside of the steering knuckle.. If it is the inside then you can leave the rotor in place.
Can someone with a 93'-94 manual supply the removal/installation procedure?
