I am installing an alternative fuel source and need to tap in to the vacuum line from fuel injection system. I do not know where this is. Can someone show a pic where this would be? Greatly appreciated.

Welcome to this forum! I think hydrogen, propane, and LP gas usually go into a "Tee" between the PCV valve, and the vacuum tree connector. The second part goes into the front intake hose. Most people make a small hole in that, and add a sealant around it. Check this link for more information: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213436

Water4Gas.

I have made the electrolyzer and am ready to install it. But first I need to know how to trick the ecu to lean the engine. Can I use an MAF sensor enhancer and if so how do I install it? Do you use HOD?

Oh hydrogen. I'm unfamilair with anything but gasoline. Maf or O2 maybe?

Does anyone know how to trick the ECU to lean the gasoline intake on a 1996 Explorer 5.0?

Lean mixture

When I add the Hydrogen and oxygen, the ECU adds more gasoline. I dont want more gas, I want less. I need to trick the ECU into thinking there is less air in return using less gas and start utilizing the hydrogen I am introducing.

does anyone know if I add the alternative fuel after the MAF sensor the ECU will not alter the fuel / air mixture?

it will always compensate if it is in closed loop (ie- driving not floored)

after the maf will trick it to some degree- definitely

what are you doing exactly?

Water4Gas

I am adding Hydrogen and oxygen into the air intake and the intake manifold vacuum line. I need to make sure that the computer does not over compensate with extra ( not needed) gasoline.

Injecting any meterable gas before the maf will be compensated, injection after the maf is unmetered and will generally cause an inherent lean condition. Can you meter the output of your ‘widget’ well enough to target driving the ecu to a specific mixture / lean condition? Normally you wouldn’t because you really don’t have to. All of the kits that ive seen supply the ‘Brown's gas’ as ‘unmetered’ and injecting post-maf allowing the mixture to be adjusted by the o2’s. The more hho you supply the less gasoline your ecu will supply (up to the minimum amount allowed by the ecu fuel table.)

Thanks Tonkatruck. I will install the hho and inject it post MAF sensor. I will also inject into the intake manifold vacuum and measure fuel consumption for a week. I will post my results. Thanks again.

i want to do this same exact thing to my sport trac and also my husabands so please let me know how it goes.....

maf sensor current or frequency

Thanks Tonkatruck. I will install the hho and inject it post MAF sensor. I will also inject into the intake manifold vacuum and measure fuel consumption for a week. I will post my results. Thanks again.

Does anyone know if the MAF sensor on a 1996 explorer 5.0 is direct current or frequency driven?
