ok,

I had my explorer for about 3 weeks... and it now needs a new motor due to water intrusion.. something not covered by warranties or by insurance.

Anyone know where I can purchase an 04 Ex motor with about 30k on it to match the mileage of the vehicle. Thanks...:salute:

ouch... try ebay to find a wrecked explorer or if you have a big junkyard check with them. Even if they don't have it a lot of times they can find one at another yard and swap or whatnot. I'll keep a look out as i am not that far from you though. good luck

Is it a 6 cyl or 8 cyl ? By the way, what do you mean by water intrusion? What happened ?

Don't forget to try one of our vendors, one of them is in PA and shipping a motor on a pallet is usually not that expensive.

Also, there are probably half a dozen salvage yards on route 206 in south jersey around southampton

ok, I found one out a damaged in transit 04 - it has about 6k on it.. being shipped from Texas today.. paid like 1800 bucks..

only 6000 miles? sounds like you lucked out. goodluck with the install

That seems a bit high, although the miles are very low. I personally wouldn't have paid over a grand for it.
I checked one of my contacts here, and he had like 3 or 4 of them with various miles. He'd sell me the lowest mileage one in his inventory (~16k) for $750. I was told there's not a whole lot of demand for them, which implies to me that they're pretty reliable.
I was afraid I was going to have a very expensive engine if it ever failed, but now that I can see I can get one reasonably priced, it's more incentive to keep this vehicle longer. If/when something does fail, it's not a real big deal to get it taken care of.
