Where do I find some rims by Gara? I had them on my 98 Sport and loved them. I bought them from the Tire Rack but I don't think that Tire Rack carries them anymore. They don't list Gara under the brands that they carry. Does anyone know where to get them online? I have been searching but can't find any good sites

I think Gara wheels are like Tire Rack's brand of wheel. I never saw them sold anywhere else, even with the largest places that sell custom wheels. Forget about ordering anything for the Explorers there. Tire rack stinks.

No Gara is not a Tire Rack brand. The Tire Rack no longer sells them now so I need to find another place to get them. Also the Tire Rack is only bad if you are buying for an older Explorer. They have no problems selling stuff for the new Explorers because there is no risk of a major lawsuit.

I read your post before. The thing is that they will sell anything for the 2002 Explorers because they have IRS which sets them apart enough from the older Explorers(ie with roll-overs) so Tire Rack won't get sued if something happens to your X. If you said that you were buying for your 2002, then they would have sold them to you no problem, like they did when you said you had a F-150.

uhh I own a 2002 sport and matt owns a 2001. Ford did not change the suspension between the two. It has been that way for a while.

The 2002 4 door has full IRS and IFS. Which is different than the sport line.

Please get your facts strait.

Yeah, I understand your point. I should have specified 2002 4 doors. The point is that selling wheels and tires to older Explorers is a liability. With all the roll-over lawsuits that have taken place it is risky to sell wheels for an older Explorer. Now here was my point: the new 2002 4 DOOR Explorers have IRS, which differentiates them from the older models. Thus selling wheels to them is not a liability since no problems have been found yet on the new models. On the other hand the Explorer Sports do not benefit from this. Because of having a solid axle they are more like the older 4 door Explorers. Thus a large company like The Tire Rack may not want to be burdened by selling products for the Sports. So yes I did have my facts "strait". Just so everyone knows though, the real point of this thread was to find out where to buy some rims for my X, not start an argument about IRS or the validity of Tire Rack's policies.

You can try wheelandtirezone.com i have no experience with this company but its worth a shot.
