Exactly what kind of enclosure are you using taco? ported? sealed? dimensions? whered you get it? Did the box from speaker hole arrive yet?

im trying to remember the deminsions of my current box, i think it is 27"x14"x14" it is a vented box with the vent facing bakwards. it was made by cerwin vega as a home stereo box. it had a 2"x6" hole in it where a horn tweeter was but i filled that in with mdf. i got it from my freinds backyard, it looks like crap(woodgrain with stains and scratches) but sounds good. to be honest with you though, if the wood grain was in better shape it would look really good, it would mix real well with the gold and chromes on the amp and the chrome ring around the sub. im still waitin on my box from speaker hole, ive emailed them askin where it is and how i can track it, i dont know why it is taking so long they are in colorodo and im in texas, but hopefully it will show up today

Austin, you really should call them.

when i ordered a box from them, i had it four days later (1 day to process order, and 3 for UPS). hopefully UPS didnt lose your package. that happened to my dad once.

y not custom made?

they just emailed me back saying that my order is shipping out tommorrow, they said that they are sending it to my P.O. box but i didnt think ups could ship it there. they said they will email me tommorrow with the tracking imformation. custom boxes are usually pretty expensive, and this one was the exact dimensions that i am looking for, i could have built one myself but it would take me 2-3 weeks to do it cuz i work so much and my woodshop is about half an hour away from me

single 12" vented, 2.85 cubic feet, 3/4" mdf

custom made would be better

Just to keep you guys up to date, I just ordered the same box (but for 2 12" woofers), a rockford 7436 cap and a rockford 7440 distro block. I'll let you guys know when it gets here and when it gets installed, and if it makes any difference. I hope it will.

sideswipe, my friend got the same box you ordered and ran two Orion HCCA subs in it.
it sounded great. that thing hit really hard. the enclosure is just about as important as the subwoofer. a better box will make any sub sound better.
let us know how it sounds.

I sure will let ya know. I meant to thank you, not only for the referral to speakerhole, but for all the other audio help youve given me. Thanks.

whazzup guys?

did you get your boxes?

how does it sound?

tac0meat, did you have to do any trimming to get the sub to fit?

i just got the box today, it is excellent, it is much louder than my other vented box, and it fits nicely in the bakc of my X. i got the grill that i showed yall earlier on and it looks great. i did not have trim anything the sub fit in there nicely. ill give yall more details and my backwards wiring incident tommorrow, but im really tired now

i'm jealous....
that grill is the best looking grill ever. everywhere i see it, they want too much money for it.
glad to hear you finally got your box (damn UPS).

well, i guess i'll talk to you tomorrow.

ya i thought it was a little on the high side ($50) but i liked it too much and now that it is on there i feel it was well worth the money. it is encridably loud! and it sounds so much cleaner than when it was in my other box, i hear no distortion and the bass is surprisingly tight for such a large vented enclosure. it not just a deep bass, everytime a drum is hit on with the music its like gettin kicked in the head, you experience everything. when i removed my amp from my other box and put it on my new one i had to unhook the power wires. when i put them back on i got the polarity switched on the power wires. luckily it blew the fuses on the amp and nothin got fried.

the box looks very clean and fits nicely in the back of my X, the sub is right in the middle of the box, and looks great. my scanner is busted and i dont have a digicam, so here is a polaroid of it that i imported onto my computer with a webcam:

its cheasy, but yall get the idea

looks great...
good thing the reverse polarity didn't hurt the amp.
now i really want to switch back to an Audiobahn setup.
$50 is a lot for a grill, but there are no grills like that one. the picture is a little fuzzy, so you cant really see the detail. but i know what they look like. i wanted to get the chrome one, but i think the brushed aluminum is more practical.

now i just have to convince my wife that i NEED a new Audiobahn system.

My box is coming on friday and the specs state that its 36" long, will that fit between the wheel wells??

yes 36" will fit.
my sub boxes are both 36" wide.
