I have a Pioneer six-disk changer. It is currently installed under the ashtry to a piece of plywood backing. While I like the convience of having the changer up front without using up any storage space, it looks sloppy. I intend to reinstall it somewhere else in my truck and was looking for alternative locations. Any ideas or experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks

the factory location is in the middle console and i think its even a pioneer 6-disk you might try and find out iff ford sells the mouting brackets.......i have a 10-disk that i mounted in the rear cargo area under the window its kinda stupid but i thougt that i would have a cargo cover by now ill soon move to my center console hope this helped

I put my 12 disk in the console, like the 95+factory. It was a total pain to install, it took 3 hours and lots of cutting and lots of 4 letter words. Once in, it looks good. That's the only convenient place to put it for me. I don't want it under the seat because I'd be afraid somebody would accidentally hit it with their foot and break it.

Steven,
I put my Alpine 6 disk changer in the rear jack compartment. I had to move the rear washer fluid bottle over about 4 inches. I was then able to slide the changer in front of the washer fluid bottle. The setup looks really good, and no one can tell I even have a changer installed.

Let me know if you want me to email you pictures of the setup.

I'm thinking of putting mine where the glove comprtment is I plan to remove the door take the actuall golve holder there should be plenty of room depth wise then I will cut the front door where the lock is os the changer fits like a in dash cd player this way it will be close and look good

Nice idea Greathouse. I have seen a similar setup in the lexus rx 300. The back of the glove box was cut out and the changer was mounted to the under side of the dash. It looked very nice, but I am a little scared to just start cutting up my Explorer.

YEA THAT AND TIME IS HOLDING ME BACK BUT i AM PLANING ON GOING TO THE JUNKYARD FOR ANOTHER GLOVEBOX INCASE OF ANY MISSTAKES
