I need info on batteries!
I have owned:
1980 Dodge Colt
1968 Linc Continental
1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
1991 Ford Explorer
1998 Dodge Durango
2004 Ford Explorer

Guess which one I never had to jump start...
Unbelievably it's the Colt! I have had battery or alternator or electrical issues or all of the above all my life.

My question is what battery should I buy tomorrow?

I am considering the Optima RedTop for $150...

Please help! :dunno:

Keep it simple Motorcraft.

Optimas are crap. I have had 5 in two cars. Only reason I keep getting them is because they replace them for free.

Die Hards have done well for me since 1994... (4Exs since 94, 4 Die Hards)

Second on the DieHard, its what I ran on my Explorer.

Also, from my [limited] experience, the size of the vehicle's engine impacts the life of the battery -- which I think explains why your Colt never died. My Civic has never had its battery replaced and on top of the battery says it was reassembled or built or whatever in 2002 -- and its the cheap local store chain's brand (I think Advanced Auto).

Autozone does great and has a great warrenty. Had to change 3 of them in my 95x since 1998 and only paid for the first one. It was an 8 year warrenty

Yep, go with the redtop.

which battery

Optima red top. best battery on the planet.

my motorcraft battery just gave out last year after i put a system in it..it lasted 10 years......

I tried the Optimas in my old muscle cars and they don't seem to last long but non-use may be an issue. In the last five Explorers back to my '91 Sport, my Mustang, '97 Probe GT and my old '66 F250 I have used Motorcraft and I get six to seven years out of these things! It's probably the ONLY part you can buy from a Ford dealership that costs less than the parts store's batteries and lasts two to three times longer. Ford may actually have this design down...

im tellin you dude they are stout batteries!

I like the Die Hard. When my 05 Explorer needed:us: a battery I put a Die Hard in it.
Before I got my Explorer I had a 98 Pontiac that I put a Die Hard in ,a couple of years later I thought the battery was bad . I had Sears test it They said it was ok. I took over half of the acid out of it and put in plain tap water and the battery still tested good .The battery worked fine.
I like the Die Hard because there are Sears stores everwhere for a replacement

Happy Camper-I got a battery

I went with the Les Schwab 65 XT Xtreme Power battery-

http://www.lesschwab.com/batteries/xtremepower.asp

It has 1000 amps, 850 cc amps and 150 min reserve. Plus I live in the NW- over 410 sevice locations!

Just went camping for the weekend and it started up happy every time- Played the radio forever too! Peace of mind is worth so much more than $99.95!

Wish me luck!

Autozone, Duralast Gold gets my vote.
