Simple question ... which side of the engine is "Bank 1" ... passenger or driver's side? Thanks to a handy AutoTap, I have been able to avoid 3 trips to the dealer in the past 30 days (once tree weeks ago and twice in the last week) for CEL diagnosis. I keep getting a P0420 "Catalyst value out of range" error that keeps throwing the CEL. Considering that the dealer would charge at least $75 (cost last year) to diagnosis and disarm a CEL, the AutoTap has more than paid for itself lately.
This is obviously a bad 02 sensor or a bad catalytic converter. However, it has been AGES since I last crawled under my explorer to check out the header/exhaust setup. So, I suspect the 02, not knowing if the headers have precats, or if each bank has an individual cat (pre-cat) aft of the header.
So, which side of the engine is bank 1? Passenger or Driver's Side?
