im certain that this question has been answered on here multiple times, so i will apologize in advance for posting it again......im sorry lol.
normally i would do a search but for the next few days im stuck using the internet on my blackberry until my modem comes in and searching the forum on an 8330 is worse than dial up lol.
i have a 97 5.0 awd explorer with a build date of 11/19/96 and im curious what transmission it has.
im debating on rebuilding it due to neglect from the previous owner, but im setting a budget of $2500 and doing all the work, but im starting with the transmission and drive train before i move onto the engine. the beast has 185,000+ on it.

!This should be interesting.....I'm going to start rebuilding this X in late Feb. I have never touched an suv before, but I'm not new to cars, just suv's lol. So this will be my first time rebuilding a transfer case, which should be fun.I just ordered new leaf springs from lmctruck along with new shackles and shocks. Other than the above mentioned parts everything else I'm going to get at cost from my work, and my budget is $2500 to refresh the steering, engine, and drive train......my goal is to get another 60-70k miles out of this beast.
