Congratulate me! Finally, I broke down and bought an amp for my mids and highs. So, with an amp for the mids and highs, and one for the subs, no need for the stock one, and better yet, no need to bypass it either. I suppose I could just ignore it, but it'd be nice to know that it's not turning on at all anymore and pulling precious power. Anyone know an *easy* way to keep this amp off, or should I just pull out the rear panel and disconnect?

Thanks,

Jon

I don't know where you are running your wires to the speakers from, but if it is from the head unit you will still have to bypass it, but if you went to the speakers then you do not have to worry. I am not sure where the amp gets its power. You may have to get back and unplug it.

I am pretty sure that if you remove you right rear speaker and feel around you will feel a bunch of wires wrapped in what looks like electrical tape. The speaker wires are there and I am pretty sure the wires for the amp run along with it. I will take a look tomorrow when I get home from school cause all I gotta do is take the grille off from where the stock sub was to see the old wiring. I'll let you know. By the way what type of amp did you get??

Thanks guys!

Hey Steve, did you get the antennae prob fixed yet?

I found an MTX 4320 to match my MTX 2300. Granted, it was used, but it's still works great. I got if off my brother's friend who had to leave the state and sell off his car. I'm gonna try to run the 4 guage this weekend with a new hole in the passenger side so it doesn't have to travel across the engine compartment.

My girlfriend was cool enough that she wants to help me with adding some heat shielding/sound deadener (not the rubberized Dynamat stuff) under the carpet. It's that thick rug-like foamy material with the foil on one side, so we're going to take out the seats and put it in. Was like $20, so I figured what the heck. It'll be at this time that run all the wiring exactly how I want it. I really want it for it's heat shielding capabilities.

I'm getting a TINY bit of whine. You can't hear it under normal circumstances, but if I have the volume at 0 and I put my head up to the speaker, I can hear it. Nothing major, but I'd like to see how close to perfect I can get it.

No I never got the reception problem fixed. Still bad reception all the time. I think I am gonna disconnect my power wire from the battery tomorrow and drive around and see what happens. I am gonna go out and check for the wire right now since the explorer is in the garage tonight.

Thanks Steve, your helps much appreciated! Everyone keeps saying that there's no remote line lead to turn the stock amp on, so I'm wondering where the actual connection is. Maybe I could just easily clip something up in the head instead.
