Although my delivery date isn't for some time, I want to get a wireless hotspot or USB modem to use otherwise until the nex Ex finally shows up. I just want to make sure what I get actually works.

I'm hoping either the Verizon 4G hotspot (first choice) or the Verizon 4G USB modem will work.

There seems to be a way to tether the hotspot via USB, so I hope the Ex recognizes it.

Anyone try this yet?

Which modems/cell carriers are you all successfully using to turn the Ex into a hotspot via MFT?

Thanks.

Just get a Verizon phone that you can use as a mobile hotspot. Cuts down on the devices you have, and only adds $20 to your smartphone bill.

If you're using the 4g hotspot, then why would you want to tether it to the explorer? Why not just have your clients connect directly to the hotspot?

Currently I use an iPhone via Bluetooth PAN tethering, works fine

I use an ATT iPhone. Not switching to Verizon phone until 4g.

I don't want to tether the iPhone because ATT service sucks donkey balls.

Does the car get data via the Internet connection? That's why I wanted to connect it. If not, then the hotspot may be best without connecting it.

Ironically, the iPhone 5 with 4g may be out before I get delivery on the Explorer...

The Verizon iPhone is not 4G yet. Won't be until iPhone 5, which look to be September at best.

The car does not get any data via internet (as of this time), it only uses it for creating a wifi hotspot to passengers. Right now the two methods for the car to get data are sirius satellite, and then dialup using the phones bluetooth connection (for running health reports, etc)
