- '91 XLT 4x4
'91 XLT, 220k miles. Got either a cracked head or a bad gasket, not sure which. Usual symptoms: truck runs like crap, coolant coming out the tailpipe, yellow baby crap in the radiator, etc. I'm not even going to check the compression or do a leak-down test.
It might be the head gasket, but given the mileage on the truck, and given the fact that it just barely passes smog (bad guides?), I'm not going to mess with with rebuilding these. Just going to get exchange rebuilt heads.
Who do you guys recommend for that? FoMoCo rebuilt, or ? There are plenty of head exchangers on the web.
I am in central California, if that matters.
PS - should I go ahead with new rings while I got the motor down?
