I've used SEARCH and I've read some interesting stuff. Recently picked up an 01 Sport. Looking to supercharge it. And from the looks of it, a SC set-up will run me more than what I paid for the truck.

Any suggestions on options here? Or are there no 'budget' options?

Thanks!

J

only 2 kits avaliable off the shelf.
explorer express sells the Xcharger , $4000 complete for around 60hp

banshee kit $1595 which is similiar to above but doesnt include supercharger or tuning.
uses same blower as the Supercoupe, they run $200-300 on ebay and figure another $500
for tuner and tune. Figure around $2500 for everything and youll get about the same 60hp increase

anything else you would have to make yourself. there are a couple guys on here with turbo kits they have made themselves.

I took the easy way out and installed a 50hp nitrous kit, total cost under $250..
course it doesnt work when the bottle is empty

The tuning doesn't scared me (i've tuned lots of high-hp cars before with AEM, Split Second, etc...) so i may have to go the 2nd route. Explorer has 135k on the clock, so i need to check the compression before i get too excited. It _feels_ good though! ;)

The good news: If I do this, it distracts me from the race-car in the garage which is a turbo motor. This way I can beef up the daily-driver.

Thanks for the tips!!!

I'm taking a serious look at the kit. I already have 30lb injectors. not sure which MAF meter is the best to add. But that and an SCT and i'm good to go!
