Yeah i thought so.. :p:

I have a feeling that meny in here wants a closer look at these things. Since a TDI ranger is not for north america - even though there´s big interest. Its the same for me here in europe. What i really want, is a V6 or V8.. But thats never going to happen (as for now). So. While i have been drooling about your vehicles. Well. Here is a chance to drool over mine. If any should feel like it.

This is what mine looked like some months ago. Completely stock. Not that nice. But it had potential to look better.

i hope the image works.. Then ill start introducing mine..

Uhmm.. Alright. Seemed to work anyways. That sure made me look stupid

Nice going for a GM tech support worker, huh? :p:

Ok. Back to my truck..

Here it is.

Mods, so far. 10 foot DIY paintjob to make it all black & some extreme dent fixing - and no. I will not fix the tailgate. Im getting a new..
Swiss cheese on the airbox. Made my turbo souds extremely high.. I does have a intercooler whic of course is useless now, but i DID test before and found no powerloss whatsoever.
15x8 steelies offset -25 with Cooper STT rubber. 31 inches.
Took of rear steel bar & mounted some generic bumper on it. Just because a truck needs a real bumper.
FLowmaster 40 muffler..
And.. A bugshield i modified from my old Ex. to fit the ranger.

have fun. Ask away if you want.

Hope you guy enjoy them anyways. Its not the nicest truck whatsoever.. But i just wnted u guys to see a euro one closeup.

CHEERS!

Turbo?

That's a great looking truck. What is the bumper off of? Also, how did you do the DIY paint job; spray paint or paint gun and booth?

- Indeed. It´s a 2,5 Turbo diesel.

Thank you. Actually. The bumper comes off another truck. I just modified it to fit my ranger. This is the "top of the line" model, it comes with the sidebars, but also a bar wrapped around the back. I did´nt like that, cause IMO a real bumper is the only right thing..

The DIY paint is done with rattlecans. Not some crap from Home depot. I went to a little place that normally only sells to pro painters. Got the right paint and made them put it in cans for me. Painters use cans sometimes for small touch-up jobs. The nozzle srays like a gun ( of course not - but pretty damn nice to work with) .. And i painted it in my garage.
All i wanted was a "10 foot paintjob".. This thing is a worktool. I have some land outside the city and i go there to play - but also work on a small cottage im building. So.. i didnt want to spend too much time/money on the paint.

But it looks alright i think. Im satisfied. And it costed me an equivalent of 150 dollars..

Se ve bien, yo quiero una!

Saludos y bienvenido al foro

From the pictures the paint looks great. Not knockin it at all. Hell my 97's white isn't looking that great anymore..plus I've always wanted a black explorer. Could you take any closer up pics? Did you just put it over the factory paint? Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated.

The paint looks alright. It could be better. Its all about how much work you want to put into it.

And yes - i painted on top of the original paintjob. I Used a machine to scuff it real good. Then i wetsanded a lot to get the scuffmarks out. Put the paint. 3 coats, then 3 coats of clear. After this is still does not look that great. The clear has a tendency to mist a bit sometimes. But what makes the difference is the buffing after.. THat takes care of that.

Buff the hell out of it. That makes the difference.

If you wanna paint your X, well. Go ahead. The result is all about how much time you wanna put into it. But, if you havent got any experience in using rattlecans -you might wanna use some time on other things, to get the "feeling".. It is essential that you can control the spraying. I have painted a million things.. Started way back when i was a kid and rattlecanned everything from my bike to the city hall walls..

- If you got skills/experience PLUS some GOOD cans/nozzles you can make it look damn nice. But a whole car.. Half way through, you will feel like cuting corners, cause youre getting sick of all the work - you might as well know that. But dont. Use the time. When youre finally done. You will be proud of yourself and happy you did it right.

jad2411: Gracias.. Veo que son de Texas, no? Me encanta la comida ayi! ; ) GUAY!

Nice truck... They're everywhere back home.. I love them though... Don't see em over here, just the North American version.... enjoy!

Thanks.

Yeah there are some. Right here in madrid- not so many though. If u see a pickup, its mostly the navara (i believe that this is what u call the frontier in North america) .. I almost bought one actually - but its too much of a "lifestyle" vehicle. Not really that durable with all that plastic in the front and what-not. Its too easy to break something or bang it up. So i went with the ranger instead its a lot more rugged.
