2007 Mountaineer
My 2007 Mountaineer makes a whooping noise periodically when i am driving it. It sounds like it is coming from the passenger side of the vehicle. Any ideas as what this could be?

you need to be a lot more specific. ie, hot, cold, speed, when brakeing, not brakeing, highway, in town. give some more details and maybe we can help ya

You know it's funny I thought I was crazy, but I am having the same problem on my 2007 ex. A few times I actually thought it was the whoop whoop from a trooper behind me. My problem seems to be completely at random. Most of the time it is shortly after taking off if I recall. It kind of sounds like those toy wands from awhile ago that you tip forward and back and they make they whoooop noise. Is that the same issue you are having Wall? I could never think of the word to use to explain it, but whoop is perfect lol.

Here's another thread with the same issue

The whooping sound occurs anytime but normally when I am on the highway. Probably occurs when it is warmer/hot outside. It is a crazy noise but yes it does sound like the toy that made the whooping noise.

my truck is not the same generation as yours is but i had the same "whooping" issue and found out after my 4406 swap that it was the stock transfer case.
