2003 mercury mountaineer
ok guys so i have a 2003 mercury mountaineer and last night i noticed that i has a wieird clicking noise coming from behind the dash looks like under the radio. any input would be great. ok so i took another look and it appears to only be when temp dial is at max heat without fan running, when switched over to cold it goes away.

I haven't even gotten my Explorer yet, but I've found this problem all over the place. The Explorer I'm getting ready to buy has the same problem, and the dealership is fixing it for free because I won't buy it otherwise.

From what I've read, it's the actuator clicking that's doing it. Apparently, it's a simple fix, but it's really hard to get to. I Googled Explorer heat clicking sound and got a ton of hits. It can be expensive due to the labor involved.

If anyone else knows more, and I don't know a lot, they can be more helpful.
