Will a 2.9 fpr switch with one from a 4.0?

I am aware of the difference in the fuel line connection, but, I can handle that part. I just can't find anything about if they will mount in the same manner. Any thoughts here? I am looking at buying another BII with a 2.9, but, I don't feel like paying $100 for an FPR if I don't have to.

your asking if the fuel pump relay (FPR) will interchange between a 2.9 system and 4.0 fuel system? or do you mean the fuel pump itself, I guess based on the pricing point you threw out you probably mean will a fuel pump from a explorer work in a bronco II with a 2.9, on the ex I got my 4.0 out of I don't seem to remember it having a rail mounted main pump and a lift pump in the tank like a bII. if its a single in tank pump then you should be able to make it work, just as long as you get enough psi at the rail.

Thanks for the response. What I had actually been referring to was the fuel pressure regulator. I got a chance to check this myself, and it looks like they WILL physically interchange IF you use the matching fuel line and change the "boot" for the vac. port. Now, I get to go start up the "new" BII. OH, and on the dual fump setup, I think that it is much simpler and reliable to convert it to a single pump setup, like I did on my 84 BII 4.0 swap.

I use the 2.9 regulator on my 4.0, it mounts differently but it runs the same amnt of pressure on the rail. the lines are different too, im using the bII lines so thats why I switched the regulator over. so yeah your research is exactly correct, wish I understood what you needed before so I could have saved you the trouble.

rockauto is showing a regulator for an 86 bII 2.9 for 26.79 right now

Thanks for the confirm. on that Janderson. Rockauto and I don't do much business, as they don't seem to have the parts that I need, i.e. clutch fork for my 84 BII. Apperently, this is an out of production item and NOBODY makes it or has a new one anywhere. I ended up having to replace the metal "keeper" on the back of it that hold the fork onto the pivot. They were, however, VERY helpful in trying to solve the problem, so they are still a "Try them again" place for me, based on the customer service.
I am going to go ahead and use the 4.0 FPR, since I am trying to build all of my Fords to the point of being as interchangeable with each other as possible, same axles, gears, brakes, suspensions, etc... it minimizes downtime, ya' know?

Rockauto and I don't do much business

yeah its a love hate thing with me too, ive gotten lucky with them lately on closeouts for tie rod ends and other misc peices. smart thing making your parts on your trucks interchange. My bronco is like the neopolitan of vehicles, its a mish mash of parts from quite a few different rigs, hard to keep track sometimes.
