Anyone know where I can find an online repair manual I can download? Have a 97 limited 4x4 and it won't start. engine turned over and then just died. Tried to jump it off and even cleaned the battery terminals. No success. When I turn the key I hear a single click sound coming from the bottom of the engine on drivers side. Never had a problem starting before and I have never had a starter go out all at once. Any suggestions? Thanks

The click is most likely coming from the starter motor. It is located at the bottom drivers side of motor for the V6 models.

As for a repair manual, www.fordcds.com has one you can download and burn to a cd.

Take a look at a repair manual before you buy anything though. There are good troubleshooting steps for the starter. I had to use them when I did my V8 swap because I had problems with my starter intermittently working.

Thanks for the info 99SportX. Just had a mechanic friend of mine come to the house and look at it and he said it was the starter. The FordCD download will come in handy. Thanks again

does any one knows how to download the ford repair manual?

fromm this web. a repair manual, www.fordcds.com has one you can download and burn to a cd.

fordcds.com is history.

Autozone.com has free manuals. Its either a starter solenoid or a terminal corrosion issue. Starter is a pain in the butt to remove on the V6, but do able without lifting the truck.
