Will Parts from this Explorer fit?

I have a 1992 Explorer and found a dirt cheap 1997 Explorer for sale. Will parts from my 92 fit the 97? Not a big deal if they don't fit...it would just be a bonus if they did. Both Explorers look identical, only they are different years and different colors.

A 92 and a 97 should not look identical. If they do, then you don't have a 92, he doesn't have a 97, or your 92 has a fiberglass kit on it.

what parts are you looking to interchange? some stuff will and some won't.

Mine is for sure a 92, maybe this one isn't a 97 like the guy said, but they do look the same (maybe not identical) I'm just going from a quick look.

If any parts would fit that would be great. As I was just going to use my 92 as a part vehicle. Not looking for any specific parts at the moment.

If the truck he is selling you looks like a 92 then it is a 91-94, not a 97 like he says. That would be better, because almost everything will swap over. In 95 the engine, tranny, t-case, front axle, body, interior, almost everything but the rear axle changed.

Rear axle changed too... drums to disks.

Thanks for the info. I won't be able to look at the truck for sale until tomorrow, but at least I know that I can't use my 92 for parts on a 97 now! If it is a 97 I guess I'll sell my 92 for parts as the tranny is on it's last legs

Turns out it was a 94! Yay for me, now I can keep my 92 for parts.

3 years and a whole different model is a big typo for a vehicle owner. I would presume it was a typo/mis-communication rather than a "Holy cow, all this time I thought I was driving a '97" kind of scenario.

The second time I looked at it I asked to see the vehicle registration and it said 1994 and the young kid selling it was like " Oh I was positive it was a '97." He also told me it was going to cost $1000-1500 to fix it which is why he was selling it for so cheap. Ripped the part off my '92 put it on this one and it's good to go!
