96' Explorer 4X4
Hi guys , i got a 96 explorer and i was thinking of changing out the wheels and i have a 72' mercury cougar that has 14" wheels

I was wondering would the wheels from the mercury work for the bolt pattern on the explorer

These are the wheels i have http://www.cougarpartscatalog.com/14x7mag.html

Thanks

The boltpattern should be the same, but the centerbore probably
isn't. Since you have a 4x4 Explorer, the front hub will be too
large for the Merc wheels to fit.

I could be wrong though, so you might want to test fit one wheel
to confirm. Do a front wheel. Or better still, simply measure the
center bore of the Merc wheel against the Explorer hub.

Ok thanks , i hope they fit because first off i dont have a matching set on my explorer and i think the wheels would look great on it

Never seen those type of wheels on an explorer before , and i have brand new tires on those wheels

Well ill see what happens , if they wont fit due to the calipers cant i just use a spacer or something probably

why would you want 14" wheels?
what size tires do you plan on running?
I don't believe you can find LT tires to fit a 14" wheel.

and if they don't fit over the calipers, you would probably need a 2"+ spacer, which would be not a good idea.

well the biggest reasons was because i but brand new , firestone firehawk indy 500 performance tires on those wheels , and they have the uti technology so they drive good in the rain

The tire size is 225/70/R14
