I have a Reese Class III/4 tow hitch for my Mounty.
I have a reese ball mount with a 5 1/2 " drop, however I flipped it upside down for towing, since my aftermarket tow-bar is Very low....

I've towed a jetski with it before...no problems.
Can you safely use a 5 1/2 " dropped ball mount in reverse?
Is it safe to tow with mud tires?

(i was conerned the weld would break on the ball mount....)

I have to tow my mustang tomorrow, 2 hour trip, i expect to hit occasional traffic.

Approx. weight of the car is 3000lbs or lighter....

Im renting a U-haul Tow Dolly.....

Any problems here????

Heres pics, incase you're alittle lost.

Should i maybe just use a Regular Straight Ball mount instead?

i would not hesitate to use that kind of drop ball mount either up or down. Reese makes good products. look at the label on it and see what it is rated at.
hopefully the tow dolly you are going to rent has brakes on it. the weight of the car will push you along real nicely going downhill or trying to stop in a hurry. ask the u-haul people, they deal with this kinda stuff all the time.
make sure your tires are inflated properly.
you may want to remove the driveshaft on the mustang.
you will most likely require tail and turn signal lights on the back of the mustang. perhaps u-haul will have the magnetic mount type.
an easier way to go might be to rent a flat deck car hauler trailer and just strap the car down on it. they should have brakes on them for sure.

Nevermind guys!

Couldn't get an adapter in time, so i just towed it with the Silverado instead.

Got a GREAT deal at U-haul....

Got a large 4 wheel trailer for $50/ for 2 days!!!($80 deposit)
Had 4 wheel brakes and hydraulics for something....
Damn chevy steering wheel was so sensative, it was hard to keep the trailer in my lane!......i woulda rather towed it with the mounty....oh well.
