I have a chance to get a trans from a 2003 ford ranger with the 5R55E trans 4x4 37000 miles. Will it fit in my 2000 explorer? Both have a 4.0 and are 4x4 and have the 5R55E. Is this a better trans and will I have to update it? Thank's

To the best of my knowledge it should be a perfect fit. I think the 5R55E's were more or less a one size fits all tranny.

Also the 2003 will have an intermediate shaft sensor, that you will not be able to hook up. Not to worry, it should work just fine without it since your computer does not know what to do with that input anyway and does not have harness wiring for it.
