Hello all
I have a 96 XLT. I was diagnosing a passenger window problem and found a loose piece in the bottom of the door. Can anyone please tell me where this is supposed to go?
Window was going down and up but not seating right. Found that the bolt holding the left side of the window to the track had come out. Replaced bolt and window is tracking fine now. However, when all the way up or all the way down and your finger is on switch, there is a continuous clicking until you lift your finger. So I am assuming the motor needs to be replaced. Do I really have to remove the regulator and door handle to replace the window motor? (you tube video I found)

Next, ( I did search posts about this issue) Rear doors will not open from the inside. Child locks are not on. Can open from the outside.
I read that there is a plastic piece that breaks and needs to be replaced. Can someone post a picture of this piece, please?

I believe that is a glass tensioner. I could not find a picture in the service manual.
I suggest you look at the inside of the driver door for location. Or go too a JY

The window motors come out alone by removing the three small bolts that hold them in. If the motor has never been out, you will have to drill two holes in the metal inner door to access those bolts. Only one of the three has a hole from the factory, the other two have a small dent in the metal to show where the bolt is behind it. The bolts come out with an 8mm socket and short extension, don't drill the holes too big(1/2" is too big).

Just remove the door panel carefully, then the speaker, and reach in to feel the motor and its three mounting bolts, the backside threads. Support the glass before you remove the final window motor bolt, or it will likely drop to the bottom. All that should be needed is to replace the plastic pucks inside the motor drive section, they are $7 or so at any parts store. The motors should never be replaced, they should last forever if you don;t abuse them(holding the window button down too long).

Found breakout number 5 in the picture.
Must be guide or pressure adjuster

Note that #3 in that diagram is often the cause of the glass binding, rust can build up in the channels. I replaced that in my 93's door, which fixed it. I'd replace that if possible for any glass that is biding and you haven't found a way to fix it.

Note that #4 is the one adjustment for how tight the glass is along the bottom, the one bolt loosens and the guide moves left or right as needed.

Thank you for taking the time to find that. I will look on the drivers door window to see where to place it unless you have an idea?
I will be waiting til the heat cools down here in Phoenix though. The drivers door is the only door that I did not need to work on but now I guess it will be one happy family of all doors getting some attention..
