1997 Explorer AWD. All electrict windows. When it is cold the drivers door window struggles to go down. When warm out it does ok sliding up and down. Two things come to mind on the issue. Issue one. the window guides are getting dry and the motor struggles to raise and lower the window. Other option is the motor is just getting tired. Now it struggles when it hits the 2 to 3 inch distance sliding down.

Thoughts?

Check for side to side play. Roll down to where it struggles, then grab window and see if you can rock it back and forth. If so, either the adhesive holding the bottom has failed, or the bushings are worn.

thanks i will check this first. if so may need the step by step instructions to get her fixed. 193,000 miles and still going strong.

ok finally getting back around to this. The windo is firm in attempting to slide it back and forth.

Seeing as you mentioned it's fine when the weather is warmer then it's almost safe to rule out that your motor is getting tired. Take off the interior door panel and check the guides, sounds like they're a bit dry like you've mentioned previously.

Just confirming- you attempted to "rock" it like a see-saw, not "slide" it, correct?
