I have a 2001 XLT AWD, for some reason I can control all of my windows with the driver door switches, but the passenger and rear door switches only work every once in a blue moon. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I left my two front windows open during a rain storm (on accident  and after this, they worked for about 2 weeks, then all of a sudden stopped working again. i dont get it..

Sounds like bad contacts in the switches. I had to take my switches apart one time to clean the/ bend the contacts so they would contact correctly. Its actually really easy. I would say give that a try and see if that works, if not hit your local junk yard and get another set for cheap.

Thanks a lot, i'll give that a try today

DUNE RCR, I took the switch out, and pulled the peices apart, this is the button that makes the windows go down under the switch, is that what needs to be cleaned? The plastic peice hit these switches fine.

your window lock out switch is broken / needs cleaning and is probably rusted contacts from the "rain event".

Sorry I meant to post the pic in my last comment, does this switch need to be cleaned out as well? this is the inside of the window switch

thanks, it turned out to be the lockout switch. Easier fix than I expected

Yeah I meant to mention the lock-out switch too. That was my main culprit when I had my problems but cleaned everything else while I had it apart. My issue came from something different from leaving windows down......flooded roads are fun btw...
