- 2008 Mountaineer V6, 4.0L
I recently purchased a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer and noticed that the passenger side wiper arm didn't clean the window well. I tried bending the arm, but it just didn't improve the situation. So, I ordered a new OEM wiper arm and when I went to install, I noticed that the wiper arm "keepers" were missing. I checked the driver's side arm and that one is also missing the small metal keeper.
I am assuming that these vehicles came with the keepers when new, but perhaps not? I have a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis and that vehicle has the keepers on both arms. The slot where the keepers sit on the wiper motor transmission are there on the mountaineer, so I would think they should be needed. I called two Ford parts departments and was told they cannot be purchased separately, I would have to buy a new wiper assembly. Does anyone have a good source for the small metal keepers? Junkyards?
