Murphy's law dictated that my windshield wiper motor would stop working while picking up my wife at work before sunup during a freezing rain event
The bolt that holds the arm to the motor came loose. This is the arm that is attached to the control arms that go to each wiper. The arm was not engaged in the slot. This has happened before many years ago and I just tightened it up. Well, I got burned again. This time I put some thread locker on it and even drilled thru nut and stem and inserted cotter pin.
Here you can see that I'm starting to bolt up the motor. Now here is where you won't find another B2 like this (I think). That firewall used to go all the way up to the cowl that's in front of windshield. I cut it all out when building this truck. Several reasons. One is that now fresh air can come in thru cowl or engine heat can leave depending on the dynamics of the air flow at that time. Now you can see the two control arms. Before you could not. I love the way that the ice/snow melts on windshield because of this. The other reason is once before I had to get to the control arms that were under the cowl but could not get full access due to firewall.
After checking the structural integrity of this area, I decided that it would be safe to cut out. I left the area where the motor bolts to intact. Now it's a piece of cake to work on the wiper assembly. Not mentioning the added movement of air. It's neat to feel all that heat coming out of those cowl vents when I'm parked.
